Devicescape Allows Windows Phone 8 Users to Access More Than 11 Million WiFi Hotspots Worldwide

DeviceScape HotspotsCompared to the Mango (Windows Phone 7.5), the Windows Phone 8 “Apollo” comes with plenty of goodies under the hood. But if the revamped tile-based interface and much smoother animation just don’t cut it out for you, a few other features may will. Microsoft is working with Devicescape to offer support for more than 11 million WiFi hotspots around the world. This should help phone users to reduce or limit the amount of data usage and save some money. The DataSense offers a built-in guide on conserving data and connects to a nearby hotspot when available.

Unfortunately, this privilege isn’t available to all Windows Phone 8 users and Verizon will be the first major carrier to deliver the functionality. Devicescape has an extensive database of hotspots throughout the United States as well as parts of Europe and Asia. This might not seem like exciting news, but as Devicescape is adding more lists, the feature could eventually be invaluable.
