Jolla Unveils Hardware Specs of the First Sailfish OS Smartphone

Jolla Sailfish SmartphoneThe Sailfish OS is one of the newer entrants in the mobile space and it is promised to deliver compatibility with most Android apps. Jolla, the firm behind this software platform has also unveiled plans for a new smartphones model. It recently announced the precise details of the device and Jolla doesn’t seem to be eager about competing with high-end tier models in the market.

The Jolla smartphone is equipped with rather conservative hardware specs, including the 1.4GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon dual-core processor, 16GB of internal storage, 1GB of RAM, 2Mp front-facing camera and 8Mp rear-facing camera with LED flash and autofocus. Its 4.5-inch qHD display may look rather underwhelming for most users, but the 2100mAh user-replaceable battery should be adequate for one full day of usages.

The Sailfish OS-toting handset should arrive officially before this year ends for approximately $540. This is typically considered as an upper mid-tier pricing, it could be more appropriate for Jolla to use Qualcomm’s earlier quad-core processor and 720p display.
