Microsoft has released a new firmware for Windows Phone 8.1 devices and it is available in select regions for limited devices. Wider availability of the major update should be in early January, following approval and testing from partners, including carriers. The Lumia Denim has been released for users in certain European countries and China.
In India, the update has been live for Lumia 525 and Lumia 520 users. The earlier update was the Lumia Cyan and Microsoft’s support webpage still considers it as the primary update for Lumia models. It means that the Denim update has only started rolling out and it will be considered as an official update later.
Windows Central has informed us that the Denim update is now live in specific European countries for Lumia 930. These countries have also been listed by Microsoft Mobile’s webpage, although it doesn’t mention the actual model of the smartphone. However, only users of Lumia 1520 in Finland are eligible for the Denim firmware.
The update is available for Lumia 1320, Lumia 625 and Lumia 530. The official release note informs us that the firmware includes photography enhancements, SMS merging and others. As an example, the new Lumia Camera app offers the highest picture quality at very high speed.
