The NEC Medias X has a special place in the smartphone industry as it is the first smartphone with liquid-based cooling for its processor. Handsets with powerful multi-core processors are often affected with heat accumulation issues due to inadequate cooling capability. To solve this problem, NEC (Nippon Electronic Corporation) has introduced the liquid-based cooling that hopefully can keep the overall temperature level down.
Like other high-end smartphones, the Medias X is also powered with Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 chip. However, the passive heat exchange component is connected with a graphite-based radiator to improve heat dissipation with liquid coolant flows continuously between both components.
The NEX Medias X is also equipped with 4.78” 720p display, 13Mp rear-facing camera and 1.3Mp front-facing camera. The Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 processor has default clock rate of 1.9GHz, however due to heat accumulation problems, many phone makers opt to clock it at between 1.6GHz and 1.7GHz.
