Nokia has vowed to release numerous devices running Windows Phone 8 starting with a smartphone model. The company doesn’t disclose an exact launch date, but it is speculated that the phone will be unveiled on early September during Nokia World in Helsinki. This would place the phone just days ahead of Apple’s next iPhone model, which would be released in the second week of September.
Nokia struggling to regain a solid foothold in the mobile industry with Mango-equipped (Windows Phone 7.5) handsets, as the company is facing competition from Android and iOS. The Finnish company also revealed last month that 4 million Lumia handsets were sold during Q2 2012, which pales in comparison to about 26 million iPhones sold during the same quarter. Nokia is planning to stick with Windows Phone platform, despite relatively weaker demand for Lumia devices.
Nokia’s CEO, Stephen Elop, claimed that his company’s shares jumped about 5.6 percent due to positive outlooks for the upcoming release. Nokia’s Windows Phone 8 devices will finally incorporate many characteristics we’ve seen on Android devices such as multi-core processor and huge display with large resolution.
