Nvidia CEO, Jen-Hsun Huang appeared on the CES to announce the upcoming Nvidia Tegra 4 system-on-chip for mobile devices. The new product proves that Nvidia won’t be messing around in this industry and it’s claimed that the new quad-core SoC will outperform anything currently available in the market, including Apple’s powerful A6X chipset.
Nvidia Tegra chips have been used on many Windows RT, Windows Phone and Android devices, including HTC One X, Microsoft Surface Tablet and Google Nexus 7. The Nvidia Tegra 4 also comes with four discrete cores and an energy-efficient fifth core used during idle and light tasks. However, the company uses the more improved Cortex-ARM A15 cores clocked at 1.9GHz this time around.
The platform promises 45 percent less power usage with much higher performance level. While everything sounds great on paper, one question remains; will users actually notice the difference? Fortunately, Nvidia has prepared a demonstration unit in CES 2013 that involves improved HDR processing engine.
