Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 Offers “Always On” Voice Recognition Feature

Qualcomm Snapdragon 800The Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 quad-core processor will be the staple of premium smartphone users in the second half of 2013. While the Samsung Galaxy Note III and LG G2 will be powered with the Qualcomm’s newest powerful silicon, updated variants of Samsung Galaxy S4 will be equipped with the chip as well. However, it’s easy to forget that what the Snapdragon 800 offers us is more than just an increase in performance level.

The integrated always-on voice recognition is a forgotten feature of the new chip and manufacturers can choose to enable it on their device. So far, the capability is confirmed only on the Motorola Moto X and it takes form as the Open Mic feature. This allows users to interact with their devices solely using their voice and they don’t need to unlock it first.

So, if you take a liking to the phone’s “always listening” capability, hopefully other manufacturers will soon follow, since Qualcomm already gets us covered with its newest hardware platform.
