Qualcomm is known for its mobile processor lineup, the Snapdragon. Unfortunately, 2015 isn’t the best year for the company so far. Its high-end Snapdragon 810 octa-core processor has received some negative publications, while its predecessors, the Snapdragon 800 and Snapdragon S4 received well by the market.
Quite recently, it is believed that the company will launch two new Snapdragon models, the Snapdragon 818 deca-core processor and the Snapdragon 820 processor. However, some experts believed that no such chip called the Snapdragon 818 exists and it is completely false.
It appears that someone is trying to mess with the chip maker by circulating such false news. There are some reasons that Qualcomm may not be able to release a deca-core processor and heat is obviously a big problem. With the Snapdragon 810, Qualcomm has struggled to make its mobile powerhouse cooler and usable for consumer uses. It’s clear that the problem is how to keep heating issues under control, instead of how to make these chips run faster. Also, judging from all the rumors and hypes surrounding the Snapdragon 820, it is quite unlikely that Qualcomm will release processors with additional cores.
