In the mobile industry, so many wonderful things happen in China. The world’s most populous country is a fertile ground for any smartphone maker. With excellent accessibility to manufacturing centers, phone makers in China are able to deliver high-end devices at very low price tags.
As an example, a newly unveiled 5” 1080p smartphone is available for only $144 and this is an off-contract price tag. As comparison, other 1080p handsets like the HTC Droid DNA/Butterfly and Sony Xperia Z currently sell for about five times. A large, high-resolution display at this price level obviously sounds great, but we shouldn’t expect quite the same attention to details and performance level.
The Neo N003 will be delivered in a couple of variants, the basic model is sold for $144 and a better equipped one for $241. Other than the 5” full-HD display, the phone will also be equipped with 1.3GHz MediaTek MT6589 quad-core processor, 1GB of RAM, 3,000 mAh battery and 13Mp rear-facing camera. All in all, the Neo N003 seems like a stunning package for the price.
